Keri Lake said she wanted to try something new, here it is Juniper Unraveling, her new book, a dystopian romance.

I'm just going to be straight here, take the plunge, you won't regret it because whatever that author writes is simply gold.


That book broke my heart, for the characters and for the horrible nature of the humanity it paints. It explores the darkest hours of a world that's been subjected to a virus, the Dredge that infected the population, turning them into Ragers (zombies-like beings), when they reach the worst stage.

The questions the plot rises are profound and it's actually the most difficult part of the read. Which side of the fence would you chose if given the choice? Would you be better or worst than some characters? And first of all what is acceptable or not in a scientific purpose, ethically? I can tell you that it had me thinking HARD.


This is the kind of story I particularly love, the mystery remaining intact for a while, making my mind swirl with the possibilities and  the different hypotheses. Told at first from two points of view, but with several other lead characters, I couldn't wait to see how the pieces of the puzzle would eventually click into place.

Danni, Wren, Six, Dr Falkenwrath were such amazing personnalities. You'll have to read by yourself as I don't want to spoil anything, but clearly they are going to move you. They moved me.


Survival, violence, cruelty, compassion. And most of all LOVE. You'll be subjected to all of them. It will be difficult but the outcome is so worth the darkest parts. It's a long book, in true Keri Lake fashion, so be warned, you won't be spared. Dark, gritty, angsty, it was such an emotionally intense story! The sweet and hopeful scenes counterbalanced the most gruesome and horrific sitiuations, creating an addictive pace that kept me enthralled all along (and with a few shorter nails). Well done Mrs Lake!
