THE KNIGHT by B.B Reid : Review + Release Blitz

The Knight (The Stolen Duet #2)The Knight by B.B. Reid
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Mind games. Power games. Welcome back in Mian and Angel's story !

The Knight picked up where we left it off at the end of the Bandit, Angel is as ruthless as ever, plotting, ruling his criminal empire, never letting his hand show. Mian is determined to protect his son from the different menace she is facing. The dynamics are the same, a love/hate relationship, a cat and mouse game. But can Mian trust Angel to keep her safe ? Or more, is staying with him going to bring more danger to their doorstep ?
« Running won't make you free. »
The game is continuously moving, the threats are constant and coming from everywhere. Both Mian (and her baby) and Angel are in danger, decisions must be made, trust and loyalties are tested.

Although I am a fan of BB Reid's work and therefore adored the Bandit, that second installment send me reeling and after a while, I just stopped wondering and trying to make sense of everything, my headache was that bad.
That was my main issue with this book : the plot was all over the place, revelations upon revelations upon revelations. If you know me, you know how much I enjoy a complex scenario with twists and turns, complex characters but in this book, it was just exhausting.
The other issue I had was the way Mian's baby is handled, which didn't sound realistic at all.

That being said, I enjoyed the first part of the book for the anticipation of what was coming and the trio interractions, and the last part of the book which was refreshing, I loved the direction the story took, proof that the characters evolved, dare I say grew up.
« Whatever happens, whatever it takes, I'll always choose you. »

I'm struggling to decide how I'm going to rate that book. Clearly, it didn't work for me as much as the Bandit did. I'm left with unanswered questions and a bittersweet feeling. That being said, I'll definitely read more of BB Reid's work and I'm ready for Z's story, who was after all my favorite character;)

Author Bio

B.B., ALSO KNOWN as Bebe, found her passion for romance when she read her first romance novel by Susan Johnson at a young age. She would sneak into her mother's closet for books and even sometimes the attic. It soon became a hobby, and later an addiction, influencing her life in a positive way.

Bebe is fresh out of undergrad college and has always wondered about the existence of her talent. When she finally decided to pick up a metaphorical pen and start writing, she found a new way to embrace her passion.

She favors a romance that isn't always easy on the eyes or heart, and loves to see characters grow--characters who are seemingly doomed from the start but find love anyway.

Fear Me, her debut novel, is the first of many.
