With Disgraced, I'm discovering a new (to me) author, whose universe totally gripped me. I haven't read Dishonored, and you don't need to in order to appreciate Disgraced but I recommend it since Lina and Damon's story is introduced in that first installment. I'll definitively read it the first chance I get, and I'm also looking forward Zach's book !
Discraced is a captivating story, dark, gritty.The storytelling is amazing, gripping, with rhythm, suspense, intrigue. The plot is rich, every side is perfectly handled: action and emotion, kept me on the edge of my seat.
The characters are compelling, Lina/Kat is fierce, decided to get the answers to her questions about her grandfather. She is rather naïve, not about her predicament but about the choices she made but it didn't bother me, I liked her vulnerability, her sassy comments. She knows which battle to fight and when to give in. Damon, is a true alpha, dominating, caring, protective. He is battling his own demons but doesn't hold back when it comes to Lina's safety. I loved that he didn't gave her life lessons, or judge her.
If you like taboo stories, you won't be disappointed, Disgraced is taboo is more than one way :the age difference, the family ties, his priesthood. Hello tingling (spanking) moments !!!Seriously, there is that altar scene, scorching hot, yes, but also so meaningful and symbolic !!! Yum, my friends, I'm not saying more, BUT I want to hear your thoughts about it ;).
