"What is your truth? I'll never tire of Brittainy Cherry's books. With Behind the Bars, her first novel of the Music Street series, she once agin leads her readers through an amazingly written emotional journey. It's a story about friendship, love, family; about guilt, healing, second chances and closure. I loved that  it takes olace in New Orleans, wher music is everywhere. The jazz and soul references give poetry to the book; Coupled with her gracious writing style, worda became magic. I dont know how many quotes I highlighted while reading but It's A LOT. My favorite is Elliott's declaration to Jasmine: “You were, are, and will always be my Jazz. You are every beat, every note, every bar. You are the lyrics, the harmony, and the melody . You were, are, and always will be my favorite song.” Swoon-worthy, don't you think? Only Brittainy Cherry makes me smile and cry in the same sentence. I don't know how she manages to do that it but it requires some serious talent! Elliott and Jasmine are scarred, they dealt with a lot of dramas in their lifes; they are damaged and there are very poignant scenes, but the hope is still everpresent. The road is beautiful and sad, beautifully sad, and I highly recommend you take it along Elliott and Jazz, and TJ who is an out-standing side character.
