THE OUTSKIRTS by T.M. Frazier

The Outskirts (The Outskirts Duet, #1)The Outskirts by T.M. Frazier
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Another T.M Frazier book, another winner for me! I love the atmosphere in her books, heroines that although vulnerable, are tough as nails, heroes I can't help but fall in love with.

The Outskirts is the story of two damaged people, Sawyer and Finn, who both deal with the grief of the suicides of the most important person of their lives.

The parallel of the way they cope his really well handled. As Sawyer tries to move on (but finally is it really a choice?) and is looking for a fresh start, Finn is sinking into alcohol, sorrow and guilt. When Sawyer, sweet, strong, determined, independent young woman set her camper near Finn's shack, Finn's life is about to be turned upside-down....

With her intriguing outfits, and the secrets of her former life she seems to keep, Finn's curiosity is piqued.
She awakes in him sides he has kept burried for years, and one sure thing is, he doesn't like it one bit!
"The desire to want to live. The connection between Sawyer and I was like this tangible thing around us. I’d never felt anything like it."

And with his broody nature, hermit like life, but the protectiveness he shows toward her, she beginnings to see behind the scary neighbor who evokes in her troubling desires.
"I knew better. The only thing more dangerous than a predictable monster… Was an unpredictable one."

Sexy, sweet, angsty, the story is compelling and I could totally imagine what living in the Outskirts feels like. The heat, the storms, the swamp, the mud, the street, felt like a character of this book as well.

The side characters were extremely well written and became as important as Finn in Say's life: The mysterious and welcoming Critter, Josh and Miller's crazy relationship, without them, The Outskirts wouldn't be the same! They give a feeling of family to the book.

This first installment ends on a cliffhanger, I can't wait to read more and found out the last secrets of the Outskirts!
